Step by step instructions

  • First, take a pot and put cold water in it. After that, wash the peaches, cut them in half and remove the seeds. Fill the other pot with water (enough to cover the fruit) and put the halves inside. Turn on the heat and simmer for 3 minutes.
  • After this time, put the fruit in the pot with cold water. Wait for it to warm up; then remove the peaches and, with a knife, remove the peel. You can cut the fruit into slices or leave them as they are.
  • Then put the sugar in hot water, add lemon juice and salt powder. Stir for 3 minutes and place the fruit in the pot.
  • Cook, stirring carefully, until the sugar is completely dissolved. After 5 minutes, turn off the heat. Let this preparation sit until it cools.
  • Then transfer the contents to a glass jar and refrigerate the mixture overnight.
  • The next day, put the contents back in the pot and bring it to the boil. As the foam appears on the surface, remove it with a spoon with holes and stir from time to time to prevent sticking. Boil the fruit for 10 minutes.
  • To preserve homemade peach syrup it is necessary that the glass jars be clean and sterilized.
  • To do this, place them next to the lids in a pot of water (covering them completely) and boil them for 20 minutes. After this time, remove them with tongs and put them on a clean towel.
  • Pour the product into jars, leaving 1 cm free at the top. Put the lids on and turn the jars upside down. Allow the mixture to cool and then store it in the refrigerator. It can be consumed between 2 and 3 weeks.
